Introduction to the World of Photography with Karen Schneider

This course is designed for beginning level digital photographers. Students will become fluent with the principles of photography, and learn how they translate to the digital world. We will learn the fundamentals of: proper exposure, metering, aperture, ISO, shutter speed & focusing. We will discuss and explore how elements of composition, depth of field and lens choices can refine and define your photography. During the course we will have opportunities to use your new knowledge with daylight & studio photo assignments. Classroom time will also focus on the digital workflow. You will learn how to use LightRoom to edit and make image selections, unlock the power of Camera Raw, and experiment with personal visions using Photoshop as your digital darkroom.

• Organizing and Selecting images with LightRoom
• Image processing with Camera Raw/ LightRoom
• Creative refinement with Photoshop
• Digital output/printing
